Terms of Service
Last updated: October 15, 2026
1. Description of Service
Famspot is a hyper-local community platform that allows local residents and parents to discover, share, and view community events, activities, and local announcements. Browsing the App is free and open to the public. Posting or interacting with listings requires authentication via a third-party service (Google or Apple Sign-In).
2. Eligibility
Famspot is intended for use by adults (18+) on behalf of their families. While event content may be about activities for children, the App itself is not directed to children, and accounts may only be created by adults via Google or Apple sign-in.
3. User-Generated Content and Conduct
Users are solely responsible for any events, text, descriptions, links, media, or comments they post to Famspot ("User Content"). By posting content, you represent and warrant that you own or have permission to share the event details, the content is accurate, family-friendly, and not misleading, and that you will not post commercial spam, malicious links, fraudulent events, or offensive, harmful, or illegal material. Comments on events are visible to other users; you may edit or delete your own comments at any time, and may report another user's comment directly to that event's host. Famspot has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive conduct of any kind, including harassment, hate speech, threats, sexually explicit material, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
4. Host-Organized vs. Community-Posted Events
Any registered user may post an event to Famspot — from a business, club, or official organizer running a public event, to a family sharing a personal gathering at a private home. When posting, the poster answers whether they are the host, which labels the event "Host-Posted" in the App, but this is self-reported and is not verified, vetted, licensed, insured, or endorsed by Famspot in any way. Famspot does not conduct background checks on posters or attendees and makes no representation about the identity, legitimacy, safety, or trustworthiness of any host, organizer, or venue, whether labeled as Host-Posted or not.
5. Content Moderation and Removal
We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to monitor, edit, or remove any User Content at our sole discretion, without notice. Famspot uses a community-reporting system where posts receiving reports from a designated number of distinct users may be automatically hidden from the public feed pending review, and you may report any event or content you believe violates these Terms directly from the App. Content that violates our zero-tolerance policy, and the accounts of users who post it, will be removed and/or permanently banned as soon as we become aware of it, without prior notice. We are not liable for any failure or delay in removing objectionable content.
6. Disclaimer of Accuracy, Updates, and Cancellations
Famspot relies entirely on community members and hosts to input and maintain event details (dates, times, prices, locations), and we do not independently verify, confirm, or guarantee any listing. Events may be changed, rescheduled, or canceled by their poster at any time, with or without updating the listing, and with no notice to Famspot or to users who have viewed, favorited, upvoted, or marked themselves "Going" to the event. All distance and proximity metrics are approximate estimates based on ZIP code data, not exact GPS tracking. Always verify event times, locations, admission policies, and whether the event is still happening directly with the venue or organizer before attending. Famspot and its creator make no guarantee that any listed event will occur as described, or at all, and are not liable for canceled or rescheduled events, inaccuracies, personal injury, property damage, travel costs, or any other expenses incurred from using information found within the App.
7. Private Events and Personal Safety
Some listings are private, personal gatherings (for example, a family event at someone's home) rather than events at a public or commercial venue. Famspot does not own, operate, staff, supervise, or insure any event or location listed in the App, whether public or private, host-organized or individually posted. You are solely responsible for using your own judgment before attending any event, especially one held at a private residence or hosted by someone you do not personally know, including verifying the host's identity and the event's legitimacy through your own independent means, supervising your children at all times, and deciding whether to share any personal information (such as your address or phone number) with a host or other attendees. Famspot and its creator are not responsible or liable for any injury, loss, dispute, criminal act, or other incident arising from or related to any event, public or private, discovered through the App.
8. No Warranty
The App and all content within it are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any event listing is accurate, current, or safe to attend.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Famspot and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, death, or property damage, arising from your use of the App or your attendance at any event discovered through it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the amount (if any) you paid to use it.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Famspot and its creator harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your attendance at or hosting of any event, or your violation of these Terms.
11. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, immediately and without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms, including posting objectionable content or engaging in abusive conduct toward other users, or is otherwise harmful to the community or our infrastructure. We enforce these Terms consistently and have zero tolerance for repeat or severe violations.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The App relies on third-party services to operate, including Google and Apple (sign-in), Supabase (data hosting), Expo's push notification service (delivering alerts like host live updates and "Going" reminders to your device), and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (converting an event's posted address into map coordinates). Event listings may include third-party registration links provided by the poster, and the App may open third-party mapping services (e.g., to show directions to a venue) at your request. Famspot does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or service you access through the App.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App following any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
• Account info: your name and email address, provided by Google or Apple when you sign in.
• Location info: the ZIP code you enter (used to find nearby events); we do not collect precise GPS location.
• Content you create: events you post (including whether you mark yourself as the host, shown as "Host-Posted"), comments you post on events, upvotes, favorites, "Going" responses, and reports you submit.
• Device push notification token: if you enable notifications, we store a device token (via Expo's push notification service) so we can send you alerts you've opted into, such as "Going" reminders or live updates from a host you've subscribed to. You can disable this at any time in your device settings.
• Feedback you submit: if you send us feedback, a bug report, or a coverage request through the App, we collect the message you write, the feedback type you select, and limited context about what you were doing at the time (e.g., your search filters or the event you were viewing).
• Family age-group preferences (optional): general age-range tags you select for your household (e.g., "Toddlers," "Teens") to help us show more relevant events. We do not collect children's names, birthdates, or any other individual child information.
• Basic usage data needed to operate the App (e.g., timestamps of your posts and votes).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this information to show you relevant nearby events, let you post and manage your own events and comments, track your favorites/upvotes/"Going" responses, send you notifications you've opted into, and enforce community moderation (e.g., preventing duplicate reports or self-reporting). We use feedback you submit to triage issues, prioritize what we build next, and (for coverage requests) decide where to expand event coverage. If you have favorited or upvoted events, or set optional family age-group preferences, we may use that information to personalize the order events are shown to you (e.g., a "Recommended for You" sort). If you mark yourself as "Going" to an event, we show the event's host an aggregate count only (e.g., "5 going") — we never show your name or identity to the host or to other users. For a limited set of approved hosts, we may show an aggregate, anonymized breakdown of interest by general area (e.g., city/state derived from ZIP code) — never an individual user's identity or exact location. This is based only on your own activity within the App and does not involve advertising or sharing data with third parties.
3. Who We Share Data With
We use Supabase (database/authentication hosting), Google or Apple (sign-in), Expo's push notification service (delivering alerts to your device), and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (converting a posted event address into map coordinates) as service providers to operate the App. We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not use it for advertising.
4. Data Retention
Events you post are retained (including past/expired events) to support your own event history and moderation records. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the App's Profile screen ("Delete Account"), or by contacting us at support@famspotapp.com.
5. Children's Privacy
Famspot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Accounts are created by adults via Google or Apple sign-in on behalf of their families. The optional family age-group preferences described above are general household tags only, not personal information about any individual child.
6. Your Rights
You may edit or delete any event or comment you have posted at any time. You may un-favorite, un-upvote, or un-mark "Going" on events, change your family age-group preferences, or turn off notifications, at any time. You may permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen ("Delete Account"). Regardless of your location, you may also request to know what personal data we hold about you, request a copy of it, or request full account and data deletion, at any time, by contacting us at support@famspotapp.com. We do not sell personal information and have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
